One of the accessories that I had difficulty in finding was my dream tiara as I wanted something that was both exquisite and had a lot of sparkle. I eventually did find it together with a price tag of £300.00.

Unfortunately my hairdresser took one look at the tiara and explained to me that I would be unable to wear it due to the design and weight of the item as it needed to be securely attached with hair pins and it was only suitable for long hair and mine was short at the time.

To add to my disappointment when I returned to the shop and explained the situation I was told by the shop assistant that they do not under any circumstances refund hair accessories even though I had explained that the item had never been worn.

With this in mind four years on I decided to start my own business Top Hat & Veils.

Initially I wanted to focus and specialise on a range of tiaras and headpieces that were like no other but were also affordable.

Every bride to be has her own preference on what she wishes to wear and how much she wants to spend so it was important to me that my collection included a variety of different styles and prices that suited all budgets but never compromise on the quality.

When I first started the business I attended a number of wedding fairs, as this enabled my collection to be seen by future brides and utilise the opportunity to market the products. The reaction that I received was absolutely fantastic (much to the dislike of my competitors) below are just some of the comments that I received

This was exactly the reaction I had wished for and many customers purchased items from me there and then.

Following the success of the tiaras & headpieces I expanded the collection to include jewellery sets and headpieces that were suitable for bridesmaids & flower girls.

Since starting my business my collection has also appealed to a wider clientele and customers have purchased items for their school proms and Holy Communions.

I shall continue to expand my business ensuring that at all times I only supply a range of quality accessories that exemplify true splendour.
